All knitting has stopped!

So last night Knox didn't do her job of watching out for me. I had a small accident in the kitchen...sharp knife, onion, you get the picture. I'm okay, just slowed down a bit. So I heard back from my baby source....so I'm trying to make these
(which were made for my cousin's baby--her shower is this weekend, hopefully someone will share pics with me so I can tell you about it) But these are newborn size and the green sweater isn't, so I'm trying to make the booties bigger, but they looked too big!! After hearing from this far away source I'm going to finish the one I'm make and see what I think, because once it is finished it may turn out to be okay, otherwise I'll try again with smaller needles! Hopefully there will be some knitting done this weekend!

LSU socks!

While my other project is on hold, I'm trying to finish up some socks for myself (it's odd I don't knit for myself that often, for some reason I really like knitting for others) Anyway these are just plain socks with contrasting color cuff/heels/toes. They seem to be taking forever. Maybe that's because I have a huge foot. I think with pattern repeats I trick myself into feeling like I've made more progress (one repeat down, 5 to go, etc..) Oh well....need to get these done so that I can start something else :) Wonder what it will be?

Warning--cute baby pic!

One of my dear friends (who lives very far away) sent me this pick of her baby in the sweater, hat and booties I made for him.  Since I can't give him a hug in person, he must do with being wrapped in my stitches :)  What a cutie!  Since it isn't my time to have kiddos yet I just oooh and ahhh over other peoples!  and knit things for them.

The pattern is from Lion Brand's webpage.  I think it was designed for their organic cotton, but I made it with Pound of Love.

About the new WIP I talked about yesterday....it is experiencing some technical difficulties.  I have requested measurements from someone with a baby.  I'll keep you posted, but it may be destined for the frog pond.  Have a super day!

Woohoo! Buttons!!

So buttons have been found--thank you Wally World! Which means stick a fork in it, it is done!

Pattern: February Baby Sweater from Knitter's Almanac by Elizabeth Zimmerman

Yarn: Knitpicks Shine Sport, grass, 2 + a little balls

Modifications: Because this is for a baby boy, I just did plain stockinette instead of the lacy patterns suggested. I also did 10% decrease for the cuffs of the sleeves because it looked better that way. Somehow the way I did the sleeves I got "holes" at the side of each sleeve that I had to go back and stitch up. Maybe I did something wrong.

What's up next? Here is a little preview....(I couldn't help showing of my stitch markers--a special Christmas present) More details coming soon!

And as promised...springtime has hit the BR...we had to turn on the AC last night...ugh....humididy, need I say more? It does appear to be cooling off today (I know all of you in colder regions of the US hate me right now, but yesterday my mom said it was warm (40 F) People here wouldn't know what to do if that were a high!

FO almost

Try as I might, I just couldn't get finish. Here it is with the bindoff row half done, seams needing sewn, threads woven in, and buttons. (Oh yeah, still need to find some quite ones to go on this--note to self--do this soon) Notice Knox wanted to be in the picture!

Knox: Oh mom, you put that on the floor just for me!!! I love your yarn!

Me: Nice try little one!

K: I love your yarn! I wish I could knit!

M: Go play with your feather ball! I'm just trying to get a picture!

K: If I'm in it, it'll be cuter!

Here she is enjoying her Sunday afternoon nap!

So cute! Tomorrow---pictures of springtime in BR and maybe a finished sweater!

What's in a name?

Many of you may wonder what is up with giraffes! Why am I so obsessed with these creatures? They aren't cuddly, they aren't popular, but they sure are cute! I remember reading in our Childcraft Encyclopedia that we had as a kid, that giraffes have 7 neck bones just like humans only longer. That fascinated me. But the true love of giraffes started in junior high. Jane Goodall came to speak to about her work with chimpanzees and in order to attend you had to write about an animal you were passionate about. From then on....well you know how I am! I suppose it also had something to do with the fact that I always felt really tall as a kid (maybe because I was a head taller than my twin brother and every other boy in school)

Here are some fun facts: http://www.randomgiraffefacts.com/

Baby Sweater

I'm making a baby sweater. I got anxious to make this pattern and couldn't wait to hear if it was a boy or girl, so I'm making both. (for our pastor's new little one--we'll call say baby C) I'm sure both sweaters will find good homes! The pattern is quick and fun! :)
It is especially nice that few seams are needed. Now I just have to keep my eyes open for the perfect buttons!
